Letrozole has been prescribed to me and I was told to take it for the next 10 years of my life to reduce the chance of breast cancer returning as I am now in remission. I take letrozole every other day and I have not had any big or negative side effects that I am aware of except my feet stay swollen as do my hands. But that could be from the chemotherapy that ended three months ago so I'm not blaming letrozole for that completely. But really no main side effects but 10 years just seems like such a long time to take a pill but like I said I'm a bit stubborn and I take it every other day and I hope that's going to be sufficient. Whatever gives us a chance at survival we take. Good luck everyone in your struggle.

Totally accept letrezol stops cancer coming back but have recently had a mini stroke and high blood pressure. currently under investigation. wondering if it could be that i either side effects or the fact been on the same brand for about 9mths? checking my own blood pressure for two weeks one week on my current brand and trying another brand for 2nd week. anyone else have had these symptoms would love to hear what you think? was told by another patient that there are alternatives that do the same thing with no side effects? but are not prescribed due to being more expensive?????

Im really hoping that things will return to normal after september as cant carry on much longer in all this pain. I was on cocodemols for years 8 a day they made no difference whatsoever so stopped taking them ive also stopped taking statins for my cholestral.

I have been taking this hormone tablet for 5months , I have found I do now suffer a few side-effects with tendons problems in my hands and fingers, I do occasionally suffer from nausea, leg pain, insomnia. Even after all that I would still endorse this hormone as its saving my life .

Since starting on Letrozole, I have been suffering from pains in joints and muscles, particularly in my legs. The problem progressively got worse over time and I found it increasingly difficult to propel my legs, and especially difficult climbing stairs. By chance one month I was given a batch of tablets made by a different manufacturer. Almost immediately the pains began to ease and I managed to move much easier. I have now managed to get switched to the new make and, although I still suffer some aches and pains, I have a much better quality of life than i did while on the other make.

Profile

Femara (letrozole) lowers oestrogen levels in postmenopausal women, which may slow the growth of certain types of breast tumours that need oestrogen to grow in the body.
