A good experience was had following my recent 2 day admission for elective spinal surgery, however I must admit that I was somewhat disappointed overall, and had expected more from such a prestigious establishment. The level of nursing care was variable - I almost always had to request my regular dose of pain relief, and one nurse actually didn't have a clue what I was taking and had to ask me. The resident Doctor on the ward was so full of himself it was nauseating, and to top it off I was placed in a small, dingy bedroom which did not reflect the high price tag. That said, the theatre staff were exemplary and I am especially thankful to the excellent nurse in charge of my care in the recovery room. My anaesthetist also deserves top marks, as does my surgeon and the resident pharmacist. I must also commend the superb level of cleanliness at the hospital in addition to the admission process which was swift and efficient.
