Review of Queen’s - Accident & Emergency
11th June 2024

Excellent and great service, was supported all the way, told what was going on, what to expect and the treatment required for my recovery. I am absolutely happy with the service and couldn't expect more.

Suggested improvements
Nothing... the service was already better in my own opinion just need to be maintained.

Every body was very efficient as they were very busy listened to what we had to say. The doctor even phoned the doctor to do with our case and got all the information.

Suggested improvements
You can’t help being busy so can’t help the waiting time.

Because I was in a lot of pain, I couldn't communicate very well, so not involved in my care and treatment, but had been able to do so with NHS 111 staff and duty GP before the ambulance took me to Queens and they were fully clued in thankfully.

Suggested improvements
Queens and ambulance team were both brilliant.

From the moment I arrived to when I was discharged I was treated very well by all the nursing staff and doctors. Even the porters who took me to X-ray and for CT scan were kind.

Suggested improvements
Nothing

The staff/nurses were great but very few doctors who were overworked and great number of emergency patients so wait times are excessive, I’m diabetic and waited 7 hrs and at 11.30 pm I discharged myself without getting assessment as had missed one injection at 6pm and needed injection at that point, when I left was extremely tired and had no food as didn’t realise just how long wait times are.I went home and just didn’t take heart meds without assessment info but booked into doctors Monday

Suggested improvements
Would have liked an assessment by doctor as to wether my heart meds were correct. Someone did advise me not to leave without seeing doctor but couldn’t give me a rough idea of how long so couldn’t make accurate decision wether to wait or not after 8 hrs needed to sleep and grab bite to eat and injection and had no way of getting home without relative driving me home

I’ve heard lots of people criticise this hospital over the years but I must say I’ve had a fantastic experience. I was very poorly and in a lot of pain with broken ribs and the staff were excellent. Yes I waited around for far too long but that’s due to resources and not the staff. I’m making a good recovery and I commend everyone involved with my care. I’m very grateful to you all.

Suggested improvements
Maybe communicate between each other as sometimes various nurses weren’t aware that changes had been made to my medication and I had to explain to them but apart from that I have no criticisms.

The staff were exceptional to me and my needs, some names I can't remember, but today Kate was by far the most attentive and professional person I've ever encountered In the NHS, all persons in the department were fabulous. ColinDear, very grateful and happy.
