Review of King George’s - Accident & Emergency

I was extremely impressed ( as a former nurse) with much of my care however, the doctor who dismissed my venous stasis as ‘dry skin’ needs to actually read up about what is actually a serious condition. Sadly, arrogance has not yet disappeared from the medical profession. I had some lovely caring nurses and doctors in A and E so, one arrogant example didn’t spoil my unexpected and distressing experience.

Suggested improvements
It is difficult to identify what could be done, the doctor with a short grey hair cut needs to go back to his books and learn about venous stasis.

Absolute shit show of a hospital. Waited 8 hours and they forgot all about my ECG - I was brought in by ambulance because of my chest pains!!!! I didn’t even get seen, I came home at 10pm, I was there since 1pm!!!!!

Suggested improvements
Everything, change your entire staffing system, why is one patient going back and forth to see doctors more than 5 times each, are you all mad???

Even though it was a long wait we were treated with kindness and respect throughout. Doctors were friendly and made sure they investigated fully where the pain was coming from. We left the hospital feeling much better. Thank you for resolving our problem.

I noticed an improvement in the overall experience compared to past experiences

Suggested improvements
I would have liked more detailed information about the diagnosis from the doctor. I felt that I didn't get a full picture of what was concluded by all the test I had.

Waiting time was long 4-5 hours. I was referred for holter monitor and echo but I haven’t got any appointments yet.

Suggested improvements
Waiting time should be reduced Echocardiogram should be done In A&E. Referral from A&E is even longer than GP referral so what’s the point of going to emergency if you can’t be checked completely.

After six hours waiting no doctor dad on a trolly in hallway staff passing by at speed he’s 101 yrs old and after fighting for his country didn’t need to be treated like that in frustration he decided he couldn’t take no more so we left his doctor refused to come down yesterday so still waiting for a diagnosis twice he had to be wheeled somewhere to be taken to the toilet had he been in a cubicle he would have had the privacy to use a bottle bearing in mind he only has one leg

Suggested improvements
Had a bit more compassion for someone as elderly as my dad
